I Am Still With You (2023)
A deeply moving, lyrical journey through Nigeria,
in search of the truth about my disappeared uncle and the history of a war that
shaped me, my family, and nation. Equal parts memoir, national history, and
political reckoning, I Am Still With You is a personal story of
collective loss and making peace with the unknowable.
I Am Still With You was named a book of the year in 2023 by the New Yorker, TIME, Boston Globe, Vulture, and The Republic. It was a finalist for the Zora Neale Hurston/Richard Wright Foundation Legacy Award.

A Stranger’s Pose (2018)
A Stranger’s Pose is an evocative and mesmerising account of travels across
different African cities. With absorbing prose and photographs, I invite the
reader to share in my travels, and the encounters I made along the way.
Alongside these depictions of new places and people is a compelling, and very
personal, meditation on the meaning of home, and the importance of intimacy to
a lone traveller.
A Stranger’s Pose was longlisted for the Ondaatje Prize in 2019.

Farad (2012)
A young woman loses her grip on reality, destroyed
by being the mistress of a powerful general. A pastor hides the innocent from
marauding gangs hyped up by post- election fervor. A philosophy professor
struggles against his better judgment to save everyone but himself. In present
day Nigeria, there are many centers of the universe. Told from various points
of view, Farad departs from the
strictures of linear narratives. Loosely centered on the activities of a
church, the many colorfully drawn characters in the breakthrough
novel illuminate the complex interconnectedness of a community where
individuals struggle through their own painful dramas.
La forma della luce (2024)

An essay on photography, based on a visit to Venice. Available only in Italian.
Published by Wetlands Books (IT)
